I have worked in Healthcare for a while and have never seen the sternal wires removed. When I asked about it I was told that procedure was too dangerous. To clip a wire and pull it through means the sharp jagged wire passes unseen under the sternum. There is a... Read more.

I think it was Mia. My sister had wires removed because they were poking out. I know she is glad she did.

Darlene it is Mia. She wrote to me. She said she is glad she did it. recovery was not as bad as OHS... thats not really an endorsement for me to pursue it.

Thank you all for responding. I really appreciate it. I have been on some support group sites.. and i honestly feel this is the real deal for help .

The sternal wires only bother me now if I do something that needs me to reach behind me or spred my arms.

Pain from sternal wires .. lots of conflicting opinions. I dont think i can take the pain .. but i really dont want to put myself through the trama of another surgery.. or procedure if not certain it will make things better.
