I was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolapse 40 years ago but only recently learned that the valve is regurgitating. The decision to have surgery was easy as I look forward to a longer life with energy to enjoy hiking and climbing. As much as I am eager for the repair, I am anxious about the actual procedure and the aftermath.
