About Me (In My Own Words)
For years I had known I had Mitral Valve Prolapse - what I didn't know was that it could/would degenerate. I didn't recognize or understand all the symptoms for what they actually are. I wrote them off to other things - they became worse. Diagnosed with Several Mitral Valve Regurgitation - "Barlow's Valve"...both leaflets flail w/broken chords, Mitral Annular Calcification (MAC), Mitral Annular Disjunction (MAD) and Afib. ?? Who knew ?? Scheduled for upcoming Mitral Valve "Repair", Maze procedure for Afib, closure of left atrium appendage and Patent Foramen Ovale. Traveling for surgery at the Cleveland Clinic end October. A bit surreal but looking forward to feeling much better and a better/improved quality of life ahead!
