About Me (In My Own Words)
A routine echocardiogram during a yearly physical in early March (2020) showed a 5.6cm ascending aortic aneurysm around the aortic root. Follow up echo’s and CT scans confirmed the findings and made surgery necessary. Things have moved very quickly and the surgery to repair the valve and the aneurysm will be taking place in a few short weeks.
At 32, I’m very much on the younger end of the spectrum and it’s likely (genetic testing to be done post op) I’ll have later age diagnosis of Marfans or a similar version of connective tissue disease.
