I had open heart surgery for an aortic valve replacement in September, 2024. The replacement with a biologic (cow) valve was necessary due to aortic valve calcification. The surgery was a success but with the sternectomy recovery was difficult because I couldn't use my arms to push up with to stand or to sit. Having had both knees totally replaced and the right knee developing an infection 15 years after and requiring two more surgeries my knees weren't strong enough to get me up without assistance.
Now, September, 2026 I have been diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation, and the tricuspid and polmonic valves mild to moderate regurgitation. Im on my way to surgery again. I don't have a date yet but have my pre surgery appointment October 15 so I'll get my date and what procedure they recommend. I'm hoping for less invasive than the first time.
