Send Maureen a GuestbookAbout Me
I was diagnosed about 9 years ago after having an EKG done prior to scheduling minor surgery. The technician detected an abnormal reading which led to an echo stress test which discovered the bicuspid and at the time, slightly enlarged aorta. She asked during the EKG if I'd ever been diagnosed with a heart murmur. I have been treated for borderline high blood pressure for years and always wondered why since I don't fit the typical profile.
I met with a cardiac surgeon at that time; had a CT scan done and have been watching the valve and aorta ever since. The surgeon at that time informed me that I would eventually have to have the surgery.
