I am 36 years old and married with 2 small kids and I love to run & exercise outdoors. I found out in March of this year I had a bicuspid aortic valve at a routine physical with severe regurgitation. This was quite a shock as I had no symptoms, had just run a marathon a couple months before and had plans to hike across the Grand Canyon this year. My valve was leaking bad enough to not be repairable and to need to be replaced 5 months after diagnosis. I opted for the mechanical On-X valve based on my age. I am currently 7 weeks post-op and feel 80-90% recovered
