About Me

I've known about the mitral valve prolapse for 10 years, but 3 years ago I started having bad palpitations and went in for a consult and tests. It showed moderate regurgitation but severe left atrium enlargement, which stymied the cardiologist because the regurgitation wasn't bad enough to cause the enlargement. I was told to wait and put on Metropolol to manage the palpitations. It helped a lot but I didn't want to stay on it. I started doing regular lymph cleaning sessions, worked with plant medicines for the heart, and got other alternative therapies, and got off the meds. I haven't needed them since. A few months ago I started feeling short of breath, couldn't walk very far without really getting winded, had more chest tightening and some pain, and increased palpitations again. A new echo, just 5 months after an updated TEE and heart cath showed still moderate regurg, showed I was now in severe regurgitation. I was then accepted for surgery and chose Dr. Chikwe to do it and she's able to do a robotic repair. Fingers crossed it all goes well!
