A few days ago I was told that my daughter Jenny will have her surgery on October 2nd. We had expected to have more notice of the surgery, but are doing our best to prepare and particularly to try to prepare Jenny for what she will experience. Jenny has severe stenosis of her bicuspid aortic valve. She will be having open heart surgery and will get a bioprosthetic valve. The added complexity is that she has CKD. Jenny is developmentally delayed and it is difficult for her to understand why she will be having the surgery and what it will entail. I would be grateful for any suggestions of helpful preparations for the surgery and suggestions of anything that would make the recovery period easier for Jenny. Thanks so much, Evelyn
