In 2013, I was diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. At the time, I was playing minor league professional hockey. Shortly there after, I had successful replacement surgery with a 27mm bovine valve.
Now in 2020, my tissue valve has begun to calcify and I will require a 2nd open heart surgery.
