Send Julie a NoteAbout Me
I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse over 40 years ago. I knew from subsequent echocardiograms over the years there was some regurgitation. I experienced arrhythmia (preventricular contractions) on and off for years, but had not had much problem in recent years until December 2018, after months of extreme stress, I began to experience a lot of arrhythmia. This ultimately led to the diagnosis of severe mitral regurgitation, as well as moderate tricuspid regurgitation, and the recommendation for surgery. It won't be 100% certain until thevday of surgery whether my mitral valve can be repaired or must be replaced, but replacement is likely. I have opted for a tissue valve.
I'm 67 and have always been pretty healthy ... have always called myself a "medical minimalist", never been hospitalized or had any invasive procedures, so this is quite a leap for me. I'm also somewhat phobic about hospitals and surgery, which doesn't help, but the heart cath experience was a good "trial run."
While I've never been much for social media, I am very thankful for this site & the shared information that has been so helpful & I expect will continue to be.
I have prayed for those facing surgery here and am asking for your prayers as well. Thanks and God bless!
