My first OHS was in 2005 when I had mitral valve repair. Now having my second OHS on Monday and am finally feeling calm and ready to move forward. Spoke with my surgeon today (for the third time!!) about pros/cons of tissue vs. mechanical valve. They had a very nice woman call to chat with me about her heart surgery and mechanical valve she received. She has grown fond of the ticking and is not bothered by her coumadin regime. It was very helpful. Still not committed to one or the other LOL, but either will be fine, just for different reasons.
