I began to feel strange palpitations in 2010 & after several tests I was informed that I needed open heart surgery as soon as possible. I waited 1/2 a year until my grandson was born before I accepted the procedure. I was afraid I wouldn't survive the surgery & wanted to meet my grandson. I wrote good bye letters to my husband & children (just in case). The surgery was scary, the recovery a nightmare. It's been 11 years & I have many ups & downs. I'm dealing with an irregular heart beat & have had four procedures to correct it, but they've all failed. I'm very active & surrounded by many loved ones. I'm good 98% of the time, but the other 2% is very scary & very lonely.
