About Me

My bicuspid aortic valve was originally discovered by our primary care physician 10 to 12 years ago during a routine physical. An echocardiogram and full stress test followed, with good results. A follow-up echo & stress were done about 5 years ago with no problems. An echo performed in June of 2014 resulted in the lab Cardiologist not letting me on the treadmill and a referral by our primary care doctor to a cardiologist. That visit was followed by a consult with a cardiac surgeon in August. My symptoms are very slight, so the surgery was scheduled for January 20, 2015, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis (Washington University Medical Center).
