About Me (In My Own Words)
I was told I needed open-heart surgery for mitral and tricuspid valve replacement in Jan 2018. I was shocked! After having echocardiograms since 2012 because i was taking Methergine for migraines, the deterioration of my valves was obvious and two of my doctors failed to notice. My surgery was a success and the valves were replaced with bovine tissue on May 14, 2018 and I am now 11weeks post op. I have many concerns and questions but do not know where to get the answers. I have obtained my chart from the facility where the surgery was performed and I am in cardiac rehab but have no support group. I am a young widow who lives alone so the process of healing has been difficult. This seems like a good place to start although I am just finding the energy to write this today. I am busy with many doctors appointments and tests and am exhausted by the weekend.
