Columbia Structural Heart & Valve Center

The Columbia Structural Heart & Valve Center provides comprehensive and coordinated medical care and services to those who suffer from valvular heart disease. Our center is led by Director Susheel K. Kodali, MD, an interventional cardiologist, in conjunction with Isaac George, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon, and a group of highly skilled valve disease specialists.

We use a team approach to patient care and everyone is seen by an interventional cardiologist, a surgeon, an imaging specialist, as well as several physician assistants throughout their time with us. This collaborative and multidisciplinary approach offers patients well-rounded care from valvular heart disease specialists.

We Are The Most Experienced TAVR Center in the U.S.

Since 2005, the Columbia Structural Heart & Valve Center has performed transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), a non-invasive catheter-based approach (typically done through the groin)  for treating severe aortic stenosis patients.

The Columbia Structural Heart & Valve Center served as the lead investigational site for the PARTNER, PARTNER II, and PARTNER 3 clinical trials under the leadership of national principal investigators including Martin B. Leon, MD and Craig R. Smith, MD.  In addition to performing more TAVR procedures than any other center in the United States, we also have a great deal of experience treating patients who have other medical conditions making them difficult to treat.
