About Me

Hi, my name is Denise and I am 63 years old. I am scheduled for a re-do mitral valve repair surgery. My first surgery was on May 29, 2012 at Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Eric Roselli. On the operating table I had a perfect repair with no leak. My 6 week post-op echo showed moderate regurgitation and I have been watched closely ever since. The leak has now progressed to moderately severe with some shortness of breath and of course the constant fatigue that goes with it. So, here I am waiting and hoping that this time my body responds positively to the re-repair surgery. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Roselli and his team. My first surgery was minimally invasive with a thoracotomy incision. This time I will have the traditional sternum incision which will mean a tougher recovery - but it will be worth it for a successful outcome. I have ordered the newest edition of Adam's book and my husband and I will read it cover to cover before my surgery. Stay tuned for future updates in my journal as my surgery date approaches.
