I was born with a CHD but was not diagnosed until my mid-twenties. It has been very minor and only needed to be checked on by Echocardiogram every 10 years. It has come to the point I have developed asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis. My little valve is finally wearing out! Our youngest son is getting married in June and I am scheduled for surgery after this special date. The doc suggested I do it before, but my husband and I are in agreement I would push my recovery too hard to be ready for all the wedding hoopla and risk my health. So, for now, I am playing hurry up and wait. And while I wait, I will do my best not to think about it and start preparing physically, emotionally, and environmentally.
