About Me

Open heart #2 takes place 10/21. This is the follow-up to my first procedure that took place 4/09, at which time I had AVR, Mitral valve repair, and CABG. That surgery was done at the Ross Heart Hospital, Ohio State University Medical Center. Because the heart valve installed in 2009 was just 21mm, the valve-in-valve procedure is not an option. So, my perfectly, almost normal looking chest, will be desecrated once again. The good news is that a larger tissue valve will be installed this time that will permit the valve-in-valve procedure to be done when the time comes, hopefully some 15 years out. I was an active member of Mended Hearts and assisted other patients who were having a variety of heart procedures. Happy to join this heart valve patient support group, and hopefully others will benefit in some small way from my posts. Blessings to all.
