Nine weeks ago, could not run for 90 seconds without getting out of breath.
Just "graduated" from the Couch to 5k program this morning. Still have more road to run but I ran for thirty consecutive minutes (at old man pace) today.
Next goal: three miles in 36 minutes (don't... Read more.

Great job, Joe!

Nice! I've always been amazed by our body's ability to recover over time. You can go a bit more than 90 seconds now!

I love this! 'Graduated from the couch ….' Congratulations!! Go, Joseph!!! 👊🔥💫

Achievement unlocked. 16.0 a month after surgery, now 26.1. Finally out of the "low" range.

Been looking to get in to the below average range for a while. Starting running with walks in between. 90 second runs this week.
Also learning that your theoretical maximum heart rate is just that, theoretical. I get above it, can breathe during it, and recover coming out of the... Read more.

If anyone wants to see the before and after of a great robotic surgery, here's my MV repair of a prolapsed posterior leaflet with a ruptured cord, and two anterior leaflet ruptured cords. Pretty amazing how far we've come with surgical techniques and exec

Thank you Joseph for sharing.
May I inquire if you had any calcification on you MV annular?
I was told that my MV needs to be replaced because I have moderate calcification on the MV annulus, that is why I was asking.
No calcification for me.

Incredible video!!! The clarity of the camera and the robotic suturing is mind-boggling! How many hours did your surgery last?
I think it was over two hours, around 2.5+ if I recall correctly. Because both leaflets needed attention it took a little longer than a typical robotic repair but not too much longer.
Joseph - That was fast! That's about the same amount of time as other more invasive mv repair procedures. Back in 2017, I was told full robotic could be almost twice as long as minimally invasive entry or mini-sternotomy. I didn't want that much time on bypass, so I eliminated... Read more.
Amazing video, Joseph! Thanks for sharing! Who did the narration?
That is the voice of my surgeon
Wow, he operates AND records the narration afterwards! What a guy!
I can't view the video. Something about age appropriate. Was that your procedure? I tried to get my MV repair video from Mayo but only got some pictures.
Scott, you can open the link on YouTube, but you might have to verify your age first (just a click). This is a mitral valve repair.
