Tim, How did they close your sternal bone ? wires or plates& screws? How was your pain after the surgery. Have a great recovery.........glad to see you are doing well.

It is wired and he also used rigid sternal fixation because of the size of my chest. Pain pretty much non existent coughing or sneezing is a little painful but overall pain very minimal and questions you need answers to just ask

After hearing about plates,that's what I wanted,but the surgeon told me,there can be movement,by themselves.So,plates and wire were both used.

I agree with Pamela. That is why my Hero Husband is with me. He was my rock when I had surgery in 2016. He will also be a great help to the nursing staff.

You definitely want to be on a schedule for pain meds the first few days. Once the pain kicks in, it is harder to get it under control.
