Thanks for the input. It is really appreciated. I am at the cottage right now and I think I'll just have another glass of wine - lol. I haven't talked to the surgeon yet about recommended valve. My cardiologist seems to think tissue is best for me. I'm relieved the... Read more.

Hi Jennifer. I had an angiogram in 2013 and did not feel a thing. I did get Afib temporarily from it....but meds resolved that. My next angiogram is on Wed and then a nuclear CT scan , end of Aug. Then the decision : reop or TAVR. The Edwards Inspire... Read more.

I had an angiogram through my wrist a month ago. No negative experiences during the procedure. Take care of yourself.

Hi Susan, I have just been referred for AVR. I'm seeing Dr. Chu at Hamilton General. I live in Grimsby Beach (wine country). I'm most concerned about the breathing tube. Please share any experience that you think might be helpful.

Hi Jennifer.....it will be fine. You will not even realize the tube .....wishing you the best! Hope that you have Adam's book....so informative. You are in good hands in Hamilton.

I am in Toronto. I had AVR in 2013. My valve has failed due to calcification and now I am preparing for a reop ( depending on scar tissue ) or TAVR. My advice would be that your surgeon use a mesh .....as was mentioned in a comment here....then the... Read more.

Susan....your tissue valve only lasted five years? What kind of tissue valve did you get? Did they say why they thought it calcified so quickly?

I have a St. Jude porcine valve. Yes,, very disappointed as it should have lasted 15-20 years. No answers as to why it didn't. It has calcified and I wonder if the reop valve might do the same......

You might want to look at a different tissue valve this time. My Victoria surgeon very carefully went over the two kinds of valves he only uses, why and the flaws with others....the On-X mechanical and the Edwards bovine tissue. I know a couple of member's (including John Lant) have... Read more.

For me the breathing tube was the worst part of the process. I just had awful gagging and they kept using suction to clean out saliva this went on for five hours. I seem to be in the minority when it comes to the breathing tube. I hope you have... Read more.
