Hi Susan
God bless you as you have your surgery. I had a bicuspid aortic valve with aortic stenosis too. My open heart surgery was 8 yrs ago this month. Everything went so well and is still going great. I got a tissue valve as well. You will do fine.

Susan,
Stay positive. While the surgery is daunting, you'll get through this just fine. I had my aortic valve replace May 15, 2023. I was fully recovered and doing everything I wanted in 3 months. I had the surgery on a Monday and was home on Friday. I also got a biological valve and all went well. I only take Metoprolol since the surgery . I will be 74 in August and have had no restrictions (diet, exercise, activity) since the surgery. You'll do it too and keeping a positive attitude is a huge part of the recovery. Good Luck. Mike

Hi Susan Also needed an aortic valve replacement among other things and am doing well since the surgery. Like others awaiting surgery, the anxiety level was through the roof but the procedure went well and I was out of the hospital in 5 days. I chose to go to Cleveland Clinic but I'm sure the Mayo Clinic and your doctor are top notch. Good luck with your procedure and I wish you the very best.

Hello Susan , hope all goes well. I also had a live tissue bicuspid valve replacement. This was 5 years ago. I recovered well and just a few days of sleeping uncomfortably but found relief by using a reclining chair instead of a bed.
