Hello! My name is Dr. Bryan Barrus and I am a cardiac surgeon having graduated from Penn State University in 2009. Mayo Clinic performs more than 4,500 cardiac surgeries each year. We are experts in treating both acquired and congenital heart valve disease, including serious or complex forms, using minimally invasive procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). "I had gone to the hospital for a simple angiogram but my cardiologist found a blockage and I was admitted for surgery that day.
Dr. Barrus came in and explained who he was and why I needed surgery as soon as possible. He spends the time explaining the who, what, when and why and keeps the patient calm by giving them his knowledge on their upcoming procedure. This was the first time I had been admitted to a hospital and I was pretty confident that I was in great hands.
