Sandy- Sorry to say that yes it is common to have trouble reining in the emotions especially so soon after surgery. One thing that is important Lady. Don't beat yourself up or feel anything is wrong that sets you apart from any other heart patient you will probably find in this community! I am sorry for your having to experience these emotions but you will have time ahead of you where we will all kind of surround you in this cloak of "You are going to get through this" instead of
let a time of depression sit with you, ok? I have been told the term "Cardiac Depression" is something that sets in while our bodies try to regain the strength that all of the aggravation to our bodies and brains endured while undergoing and emerging from the surgery they went through. So one good step is writing to us all here how things are going and hopefully let us jump in and encourage you as you make your way through the mending process. If you want you can email me at home at (tsyvertsen1@sbcglobal. net)and we can exchange some ideas as well.

Hi Sandy, Looks like they skipped me on the "upcoming" surgery list but I am still scheduled for tomorrow. We will still be "heart sisters". I hope you are feeling at peace with all of this now. I thought I would be more nervous but, as several on here have said, now that the time has come, I'm actually feeling pretty mellow. I wish you only the best outcome tomorrow.

Hello Sandy- Wish we had more time to help you calm the nerves and chat about the new valve you are going to "adopt" as well as talk about your wonderful photo of the Yukon(what a wonderful place to "be"in! Anyway. I had my valve replaced back on August 20th and I am in my 5th. month of recovery. You will be amazed at how quickly this goes unlike the waiting thru the tests, etc. When you wake up from surgery there will be a wonderful sense of well being that it is behind you and that you will begin to day by day heal and look forward to Life again! Glad that you joined our group of Heart Brother's and Sister's who can and will be of help to you now and while you are recovering. No questions that won't be answered if they can help and this is a grand place to find many people ready to support, dole out prayers and love to you just at a great time in your life! There are many great people here on site and we are all looking forward to helping you along this time in your life. Please believe in your surgeon and his team of people who want nothing more than you to have a successful surgery and recovery and will do everything and then some to make this time a positive and healing experience. Prayers and Universal good wishes for you and those you love to get through this together.
Believe and all will Be Well!

Hi Sandy, Next Friday we will become heart sisters 😊. My surgery for an aortic valve replacement is also on Friday. The nerves are getting harder to control as the time nears. Everyone on this site is so helpful and encouraging and I don't know how I would have made it this far without them. They have provided lots of good advice for preparing for after as well as candid accounts of the whole process. I hope you have time to read through some of their journals. In the meantime, deep breaths and focus on getting ready to come back home. Hugs
