Hang in there. Last year I needed a nap every day well into the fall. (Surgery date 5/15/14) I also couldn't tolerate heat. I did mall walks until weather cooled down in Texas. Also, my body still let me know when I forget metoprolol (12.5 mg). You will get yourself back this winter.

Morgan,
Just wanted to say hello and let you know I have been thinking about you. I read your updates to follow your progress, and while I cannot imagine what it is like to walk in your shoes, know that I am saying my fair share of prayers for a speedy recovery. Keep positive~ and I will continue to send good energy your way. Take Care

Morgan,
I had two valves repaired three years ago, and I also went into afib four days after surgery. I left the hospital taking metropol (I think most people do), but I was taken off after three months. My heart rate continued to jump around ( skipped beats, extra beats, a fib runs etc.) for the next nine months. It drove me NUTS, and I never felt good. After a year, my new cardiologist put me on a "newer" beta blocker at a very low dose, and I have felt a ton better. It doesn't make me tired like the metropol, but it did make me gain weight when I first started taking it. (It's called bisoprol, in case you want to know). Anyway, you might want to see if there is something else you try......it might help.
Sounds like your recovery is a difficult one. There will be better days ahead.....stay strong!

Hi Morgan,
I just came across your journals and you and I must be pretty close in our surgery dates, I had mine May 14th and I had a mitral valve replacement...after reading your journals they gave me some ease as I am going through the same as you with the sternum issues and the metropolol issues, I actually had mine reduced by half a pill because I was so nauseated on a daily basis but it is slowly getting better....my issues are with the warfarin and getting the INR levels to where they need to be.
I am also one of the younger patients to have this surgery as well, I get asked continually my age and people are surprised....I am glad you are doing well overall and I look forward to your posts.
Take Care

May you continue to be carried on Angel's Wings as you recover from this trauma. Amy gave me information to contact you. And I want to thank you for sharing your story. I owe you a reiki session and I am sorry for not being prompt in scheduling, but things got away from me and then I could not find you :(. I am carrying you in my heart and sending reiki energy for love and healing. Breathing with you, Vicky Padway
I am giving you my contact information. I would be honored to share Reiki with you.
