Best of luck to you tomorrow! Dr. Svensson is a world class surgeon, as is his staff and with that I know you're in great hands. I will be having my open heart surgery at the CC on Wednesday. Perhaps we will be recovering right down the hall from each other!
On a side note - My cousin is a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) who works in the cardiac ORs. There is a very good chance she will be assisting with your anesthesia...she is absolutely amazing! In fact, I made special arrangements for her to be in the OR with me. Her name is Jennifer as well, so if you see her, tell her that her cousin Ben said hi!

Good luck Jennifer! I recently had a mitral valve replacement on December 19th in Dallas, however my surgeon Dr Lima was trained at the Cleveland Clinic, I feel wonderful and am almost back to all of my prior activities, so I know you're in great hands there. To answer your question about the best kind of clothes for recovery, button up shirts are the best so you won't have to raise your arms or pull anything over your head. Stay positive and start moving as soon as you can, you will do great, sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!!!

Hi Jennifer, I had mitral valve repair in Cleveland Sept 2014. I cannot say enough about the treatment there. They will take great care of you, you are in the best possible place. All of the surgeons there are wonderful and they assign the best surgeon for your particular needs. ICU people were great, Yeah Nick if he is there ! Compassion and great care all around. Dr Gilanov did my surgery and my local cardiologist thought the job was just artful. I am 100 %, and was well enough to take a trip two months later. So just relax and pamper yourself. Take the needed time off and love yourself. Prayers for you !! Sal

Hi Jennifer my name is Cecelia, and I was just diagnosed on last Wednesday with a leaking heart valve and heart murmur. As I am in the first stages of everything we have not determined if I will have to have surgery or not. I just wanted to say thank you for this sight it has been very helpful so far. It all seems very scary to me, but reading other peoples comments are helpful

Great idea on that second opinion-I did that same thing and am glad. You are going to be alright-todays modern technology is amazing and the Cleveland Clinic is one of the best! Best wishes!

Hi Jennifer! After seeing your post on the newsfeed, I briefly read that you will be having your surgery performed at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Svensson. You are definitely in the hands of an exceptional surgeon! On Dec. 18th, Dr. Roselli repaired my ascending aortic aneurysm and unicuspid aortic valve. The care you will receive in the ICU and Recovery will be incredible. I can't praise the Cleveland Clinic enough for their medical expertise and the level of professional care. The recovery process is definitely challenging, but I trust that you will have the same positive experience with the great nursing staff = )

Hi, Jennifer. Im 39 and also got diagnosed with BAV and Ascending Aortic Aneurysm(4.8cm) about 2 months ago (complete shock). Im having my second consult with Dr. Svensonn 2/5 (had it moved up so I can elect to have surgery done sooner than later). He was my cousin's surgeon and there is no one better in the world for Aortic procedures. Best of luck, you will do great!
