the doctors, nurses, and staff who took very good care of me. You all did great!!

Thinking of you and wishing you luck! I also had a bicuspid aortic valve and severe stenosis- Although I ended up with a sternotomy, my next one will be a TAVR- You will feel so much better and relieved on the “other side”- It’s been a year for me tomorrow- and I feel great!

Hello Edna, my husband was also born with the bicuspid aortic valve. His was replaced in 2019. We are on the journey now to another heart surgery as he has had dilation of the Aorta. It was not expected and very unusual so close to his previous surgery. We welcome you and wish you the very best on your upcoming surgery. Rita Savelis It's normal to be anxious. It's good to talk about that anxiety. Every surgery is different so his second time around will be different, not worse, just different. It's hard. I hear you. Wishing you the best. I sometimes think it is harder to be the caregiver than the patient. I had double valve surgery 7 years ago. Seems far away now... Take care.

Rita Savelis Hello Edna. I had open heart surgery because I had 2 valves that needed replacement and one that needed repairing. I have heart damage because of chest radiation that I had at age 15 as part of cancer treatment, so I don't have as many options as some patients. Surgeons really needed to physically see the state of my heart and valves. But TAVR is a great new option for many patients. Take Care.
