Robert Stebbins Going well but full of twists and turns. My two biggest challenges are sleep and patience with the slow recovery process. For pointers, I’d highly recommend a recliner. If you’re like me and have trouble sleeping on your back, the recliner might be better than a bed for awhile. Also, take your time and don’t do too much right away. Your body needs lots of R&R after such a major surgery.
You’ll do great! I’m looking forward to keeping in touch post-surgery. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything.

Hey Clinton im 3 weeks post op from valve replacement. I had Ross procedure. I had similar- bicuspid aortic valve along with all the issues that go with it. Sounds like you have read up on your procedure which is great. You won’t remember surgery itself. The first 24 hours post op will be challenging. But def. Doable. Trust your team and use them. Take your mind to a calm place and when breathing tube is taken out focus on your breath. I focused on listening to my nasal inhale and exhale which helped calm my mind. Each hour will get a little better. Rest and sleep is important. Drain tubes will be uncomfortable. They did not hurt at all coming out. My care team was great!
You will do great! Happy holidays and if you have any specific questions feel free to reach out! You got this!
