Howard Powders Glad for you! I'm doing about the same, thankfully. I did 2 rehabs already, 6 weeks post-op, and I am obviously out of shape! Walking about a mile isn't bad, which like you, I was doing, but using the machines they want me to use is another thing! They give me a massage after each session for my lower back sciatica. Takes about 2 hours-exercises and massage. Must be helping. My heartbeat went from a scary 99 to 89. Your first rehab visit will probably be input and orientation. Let me know how your rehab exercises went.

Howard Powders I have 33 to go too! They give me a massage at the end of each session for my sciatica, but after 3 of them, I have to say they are ineffective, and I will just do the exercises without the massages going forward. Glad you are taking well to it! The hardest part of my cardiac rehab is finding a parking space!😂

Howard Powders METS is metabolic equivalent. Compares your activity level to sitting at rest. 2.5 METS means you are exerting 2.5 times the energy when exercising than when you are at rest. They don't do that at my place. I cut out the massages. They aren't helping me. I went Monday and Wednesday, but they say rain tomorrow morning, so I may cancel tomorrow. I have 28 more.

Cathy, I would be curious as to the name of the airbnb you are staying in. When I looked about a month ago I only saw one place that was a room in a house with a double bed and shared bath. Not really the best for my son and myself. I have never booked an airbnb or stayed in one. I don't think I am that skilled on navigating the site. In an ideal world I would have loved to have found a place with a kitchen to keep from having to go out for food every day. Good luck on your surgery and recovery. Take care.

Hi Cathy, I'm scheduled 10 days before you, same hospital and same Dr. I think we may even have the same diagnosis. Mine is for a mitral valve re repair. That's supposedly more complicated then the first repair but I'm confident in my choices of facility and surgical team.

Cathy Byrne Thank you so much for the offer. I definitely want to take you up on it. Talking to an actual patient will be so helpful. I also went with my gut. My cardiologist recommended Dr Adams and really no one else. I did do some internet search and felt comfortable in following his suggestion. How can we best get in touch with other.
I'm not sure if others can we see our conversations or not. I really would like to talk You

Ginny Turner Cathy, congratulations on choosing an excellent surgeon and hospital for your MV surgery. You'll have the best of care! Deena will be a great resource to answer any questions. I'm cheering for you and hope the next couple of months pass quickly. As everyone says, waiting is the hard part; your surgery won't be bad at all.
