You'll crush it! I had the same issue, bicuspid valve with severe stenosis, but also had a serious blockage. I was out of shape, and my recovery was remarkable. If you're active, you'll bounce back in no time. I'm 7 months post surgery and getting back into the best shape of my life, running again, riding my bike, back at the gym. Good luck, the most important thing is stay positive! Take your rest, you'll need it, but embrace the recovery time and set a plan to get back to crushing life! If you want/need any advice, ask! It's daunting, but it's an absolute snap!

Hello fellow kettlebell sister! Thank you for writing on my journal. How long have you been doing Kettlebell? I started RKC in 2009 and still do it 3 times per week. I use a 16 K bell for warm ups. I do heavy 1 armed swings with a 24 K bell and snatch with an 18 K bell. It's probably what kept me out of the OR for all these years. I'm afraid my Mitral Regurgitation has finally caught up with me. How long after your surgery were you able to go back to KB? Where did you have your surgery. Would love to chat live with you to get some advice on how to prepare for surgery and how I can speed up my recovery. Ben

Candas Jones Awesome!!! I was RKC and completed Pavel's LAST RKC Level II in MN. Then StrongFirst happened, I am currently with them. I started about 2004, I think my first RKC cert was 4 years later. I have not had my surgery yet, I go in Jan. 4th, my mother's birthday. I am doing a KB workout right in front of the hospital at 4 am. the morning of my surgery. All I got is strong and slightly crazy. I am heavily modified in my training right now. I get dizzy and I have fainted a few times, so I take lots of breaks and do't go as heavy as I used to. My husband wants me to do a picture a day, I will show you what I am doing for recovery.

Ben Hyman Yah...sorry about that...I should have read your story before redponding. I'm thinking of getting my HKC so I can teach, but now I'll have to wait until I complete my surgery and recovery. I work out at Fawn Friday's studio in St Paul MN. I hope I don't have too long of a layoff after surgery. It would be interesting to compare notes on our recovery and how long it takes to get back to our routine. Good luck on your journey through this. I'm sure you will do great!

Candas Jones Thanks, There are a few things I have done that I did not think I could do. One was actually having twins and the other was strength requirements for KB certs 1 and 2. I know slow and stead is the way, I am thankful for my restorative movement knowledge. Watch for updates. ugh....not thrilled at all about any of this....

You will do as well as your mind sets. The monster we grow in our minds before the procedure is so much bigger then the reality!!! Have faith!
