Thinking of you today and sending positive energy. I live on the west coast, so you are probably in recovery ICU now. I have been through OHS once before, and will again, and you will be in a good place when your surgery is done and recovery started.

Hi Barbara, your diagnosis must have come as quite a shock! I also have--had, actually, as I had valve replacement surgery last month--aortic stenosis. However, I've known about my bicuspid valve and progressing stenosis since my 20s. This year, the stenosis became severe and I became symptomatic, so it was time for the surgery.
Hope yours goes well; in fact, I'm sure it will!

Hi Barbara: I am scheduled too for an aortic valve replacement on Sept 25th. I have no symptoms but Doctors say I am “in the window.” So, rather than try and stretch it further, I am going to have it done. I am going to the Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Gosta Petterrson is doing the surgery. I am scared too but The valve has been watched for 18 years, and it is not a surprise. It helps me the most to read about all the success stories I can find, and to be in the hands of a really experienced team. Keep in mind that it’s not just the surgeon but the entire team - anesthetist, nurses in the ICU. That’s why it’s important to go to a hospital that does a lot of these procedures. Best of luck.
