Here is what I learned from my two back surgeries. Your body will take what energy it needs to heal and you need to listen to it. At one of my checkups, I told my doctor that I felt like I had gotten "stupid" since my surgery. I couldn't read books, only magazines. I cried at commercials on tv, etc. He told me to listen to my body. Another thing I learned was that I felt fragile, especially after the braces came off. I felt like I could break easily, which I think is akin to what you are feeling. You are less than a month out from your surgery, so continue being gentle with yourself. Call me anytime if you need to chat, especially if you are alone and need some virtual company. Love, Carol

Hi Alice! The first 2 weeks are the hardest but it slowly gets easier. Just keep moving. If you don’t have a step counter, you might want to get one. It helps motivate. Mine also gives a little buzz if you sit for too long. And if there is anyway you can join a cardiac rehab program, I would highly recommend it. Hang in there!
