Surgery went well and lasted 6 hours. Dr. found 2 broken "chordae" and repaired them using Gore Tex prosthetic cords to replace the 2 that had broken off. Not sure how that occured, but glad their fixed. Also implanted a ring around the valve to provide more strength. Surgery was "minimally invasive" with entry from the right side of my chest. Other than a couple of small incisions for test tubes, and a small incision in the groin area, the main incision is only about 2-1/4" long. Post-op challenges were based around anemia due to blood loss during surgery. Also blood pressure was low (uner 100)for a couple of days. I was able to leave the hospital in just 4 days and made it home in time for Thanksgiving, which was extra special this year. Still, I tire easily and wonder when I will be strong enough to get back to my push ups, pull ups, spinning, and muscle conditioning classes.
Baby steps...all in good time...stay tuned.

Tomorrow is the big day. Check in to surgery at 5:30am Wed, 11/18 I spent much of the weekend viewing You Tube video's of MV repairs. That's how I found this site. I never realized how many of us have these valve issues. I am a fit, asymptomatic, 58 year old male. Thanks to Weight Watchers, I'v dropped 78lb over the past year and a half. I have much going for me with the surgeon and cardiologist both giving me a 95% success rate. None the less, I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. Stay tuned...
