About Me (In My Own Words)
About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with an aneurysm on my ascending, bicuspid aorta (4.5 at the time). I have seen many doctors and a few surgeons over the years, but after reading Adam's story, I decided to make an appt. with Dr. McCarthy. He has been following my case now for the past 1 1/2 years. My most recent 4D MRI plus a battery of other tests were done this past March & April. The aneurysm was measured at 4.8 now. I am still being told that it would not be possible to operate yet...the size needs to be 5.0 or larger.
My concern is that I'm finding it very difficult to get on with my life until I have the surgery. I'm 62 1/2 yrs. old and my husband & I have been considering relocating to the San Diego, CA area for the past year. Because I will need to find another job with health insurance, I'm very nervous about making this move. It's really making us both very anxious as we want to do this while my husband is still able to work, too...he's 61 & a hairdresser.
I would appreciate comments from anyone who has had the surgery already or who also feels their life is on hold because they've been advised to wait to have the surgery.
Thanks, Pam
