As for me hiking in the mountains....I took it nice and easy. Nothing like what I use to be able to do.
Tomorrow morning, I\'m leaving for Seattle to visit with one of my brothers. We\'ll do as much as we can...kayak, hike or just walk around. I\'m really starting to feel the shortness of breath on exertion.
That\'s crazy that we both have connections with other people where we live. Small world, isn\'t it?
Take care!

Hi Linda,
My surgery will be on July 11th at St. Bernardine\'s in San Bernardino. Even though I have a HMO, I\'m very pleased with my cardiologist and heart surgeon.
Sorry to hear of your ins. woes. But, why Cleveland Clinic? I read that it\'s very good....but, so far awy.

Linda s Son Tony Greer Hi
This was his 3rd replacement. His forst was a Ross proceedure and one of the few first done in The United States. He went to Oklahoma City one of a few hospitals doing it. It went great and he may have never had to replace it but he got an infection 5 years later had the pig valve done by the same Doctor(Akins). He would have gone to Scripps or UCSD Ronald Regan or?? but his insurance only allowed UCSD Thornton.Thornton isnt as bad as the other one but UCSD or their Docs dont even rank anywhere. His Cardiologist mainly does translants and wanyed to replace his pulminary valve also, even though it was ok..so he wouldnt haveto open him up again. In the end Tony wouldnt hav been able to fly anyway.Cleveland looked at all of his tests, past surgeries, everything. They were so nice, talked to him several times recomended the pulmonary valve not be done especially in Tonys condition and told us if he ever had to have it replaced the new proceedure would most likely be approved and they wouldnt have to crack his chest. With Adams book we are staying on top of that while praying it wont ever need it. It was just the first time we had care we didnt feel comfortable with, but,God brought him through it he is cleaning his garage today and his pain is gone, his incisions look great and his bruising is now a lovely pale blue-green.We will use Scripps for my husbands aortic aneurysm.Keep us posted on how you are doing. We will pray for you.

Linda s Son Tony Greer Sheila,Good to hear from you.We wanted to have his surgery at th Cleveland clenic. We have always gone to the Dr.best for him. What we didnt know is that his insurance wouldnt pay to go anywhere else. We had choice of 1 Doctor 1 hospital. He was so sick and had 2 sugeries(smaller ones) to correct his blood born infection change his pacemaker/defibrilator to the other side.He was in heart failure. We at least were able to use cleveland as a 2nd opinion and they were great. We researched thru the book everything. His Doctor was ok.Surgery took 7 hrs which is very long in comparrison to others.Anyway I dont want to speak bad about hospitals or Doctors.they may be the only choice of someone else and trust is so important BUT always get a 2nd opinion if there is no choice. When is your surgery.I pray all goes well.
