refusals are a result of high blood pressure. The medicine and dosage is still not right. And now I am nervous about it,which doesn't help.
Hope all is well with you.

I am just a little jealous because I still get rejected by rehab as often as I can work out. :) Starting to feel like a loser.
I like my cardiologist a lot. He even called at 7:45 Monday morning to wish me luck at work. I feel like he knows me and knows a lot about my problem. Hope you can find someone who can continue to monitor your progress.

Dennis Wilson Why do you get refused? That count thing? Just a setback, you will get through it. As long as they are continuing to search to find why, you should eventually win... your 100 meter dash has just turned into a 1/2 marathon is all, does't mean you are losing, just means you haven't finished yet!
I can't wait to have an actual cardiologist vs. the one assigned by the hospital for cardiac rehab, as not too pleased so far with that whole process although it sounds awesome on paper!

Hey Dennis,
Wow, I'm pretty surprised that they already put you on a stress-echo. There's no WAY my cardiologist would do that, I did have an echo, but not a stress echo yet. Different strokes, I guess. It's a bit disconcerting that your cardiologist doesn't know much about you or your procedure, I find that really odd. Mine is in a large practice, and he's quite busy, but he always has my file at his fingertips when I see him, and he takes time to review whilst I'm there. Could it be the difference in medical practices between US and Canada? All that said, great that you're doing well! Way to go!

Hey Dennis,
I had bad a-flutter that started about 10 days after my surgery, heart wouldn't go below 145 per min, and it took me 4 days to go to the cardio doc, and they did an ablation. A bit of a set back, but all better now. I'm about 4 months past, I'm in rehab and have about 6 more sessions before insurance says stop. I'm 56 and it's been AWESOME. I thought I would quit quickly, but it's been a security blanket. I waited too long to get my valves and aorta done, so my heart got enlarged a bit, going to take a year or so to shrink back to normal, so they say. I didn't work out at ALL the 2.5 years prior to my surgery cause I was just worn out. They have a personal trainer who has been working with me for 3 sessions so far, and she is kicking my butt pretty good, so I'm motivated again, which is what I needed. Yeah, I'm the youngest in my "class", but I love these old folks! We're like a little club of cool kids.....
Good luck with rehab. I enjoy it. Warning, you will probably be the youngest one there.

I started rehab at 4 weeks post op and they didn't want me doing more than 30 minutes at a time. They weren't worried about distance. I do everything in miles and can now do 2miles a day. It took a while to work up to that so I would say take it slow. I am hoping to get the ok to start running soon.

heheeh oh well, the misinformation is sometimes the hardest part.
I am sure with enough breaks I could do my normal 10km (6.5mile) walk at this point, but certainly won't push... will patiently wait!!!!!

So glad the palpatations are getting better. I still feel my heartbeat is very loud at times but most of the time I don't notice it anymore. I do think when I am sitting still I notice it more because other things are quiet and I am not trying to do a dozen things. At eight weeks post op, I did my longest walk on Sat. I went 3 miles which is almost 5k. I did it in just under 45 minutes so I was happy with it. Keep working on building up your stamina.
Praying your recovery continues to move forward.

Dennis Wilson Thank you Clare, you are my beacon! I love hearing where you are so I have a goalpost of what to try to do at least!
I could walk more but just so confused on whether I should or not just past 2 weeks post op.
