Carol, You asked Dan Sauerbrei about his recent surgery. His aortic valve was repaired using Biostable’s HAART 300. It’s relatively new (approved in 2017 by the FDA) though the data is very promising that he may not need another surgery. Take care, Kelle (Dan’s wife)

Hi- I read your story. I go to Mayo in Rochester too. Who is your cardiologist and surgeon? My valve is at moderate/severe with my last echo done January 2022. I am 62 and don’t want to be on blood thinners so not quite sure which valve will be best.

Carol Jackson Dr. Kevin Greason was my surgeon 8 years ago when he repaired my ascending aortic aneurysm. He was my surgeon again plus Dr. Mackram Eleid who did the TAVR. Who is your cardiologist and surgeon? Please feel free to communicate with me if you wish. My valve was moderate to severe for awhile and then suddenly it became severe.

Deb Fisher Thank you Carol, I have Dr. Greason written in my notebook. My Cardiologist is Dr. Bird although I only saw him once in January 2022 where he felt it would be severe this year which it is. I saw an NP last week Feb 9th. symptoms happen so gradual that I couldn't come up with any real physical changes so now I have to have a stress test this week Thursday to see if exercise will bring on symptoms. If is does, which it probably will, then they will set up an appointment with a surgeon. a normal aortic valve opening is 3.0 cm and mine is .91 cm
