Finally able to concentrate enough to write a little. The surgery was a little bumpy for the family but the train eventually stopped at the right station and I was greeted by my loving wife! (Sorry to all the family members who are left hanging while we sleep.) I got home yesterday after a day of Afib that I did not sign up for and quickly explained to my cardiologist. Bottomline is I'm doing well and working on clearing my head of all that fog stuck in it and focusing on recharging the batteries and rehab. Be in touch!!! Thanks again for the continued help and support!!!!

Happy New Year everyone! I am having aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, aorta repair and a small bypass soon. My questions is what are the differences/concerns when you have diabetes 2, if any exist? (surgery and recovery) Thanks!

Dan Vechiola I have type 2 and the entire time in the hospital and during recovery it was not a concern at all.

Helge Volden I had Aortic Valve Replacement and aorta repair on sept 27th 2018. I have type 2 diabetes as well thought it would be a bigger deal. I am under the impression that everyone gets put on insulin for OHS for a period after surgery. They took me off insulin before they released me from the Hospital and back on regular oral meds.
