Was discharged from Halifax hospital and waiting for Leeds to let me know when they can operate. The waiting is awful at least when I was in hospital I was in a ward with three other ladies with heart problems. We talked and found it comforting as we all had heart problems. I would like to speak to a Doctor for reassurance about the operation.

Valerie Allen The survival rate is excellent, and varies depending on several factors. Find a hospital and surgeon who does many, many of your type of surgery. Like thousands. Check the SurgeonFinder in the menu up top. Many people have to travel in order to do this, it just depends.

Rose Madura Welcome Valerie, you've come to the right place for support. You don't mention the type of surgery you will be having but try to focus on the outcomes. Most OHS have very positive outcomes, statistics in the high 90's. The doctors and staff are very versed in what needs to be done.

Melinda Donahue Hi Valerie!!! That was my biggest worry. I had to go back into surgery for another 2.5 hours and I am here awake and doing well and super annoyed that I am not back to being 💯 immediately! Lol. You are with the best people ever they will tell you what is up immediately and give you accurate and experienced advice. What I learned is we share in many of same experiences as well as the fears. You will wake up. One of the best pieces of advice I got for this site was to give urself some time and and let urself heal which I am still wrestling with but it is most important.
I am now a member of this special group and honored to be supported and cared for by them.

Melinda Donahue 💯just don’t come out thinking in two days you will be yourself and back to normal. It is a process and a long road. I am two weeks today, still tight when I walk and body parts are starting to hurt. I can cook a little, go to the bathroom and shower myself and help my wonderful husband clean up the dishes. Food still taste bitter - the sweeter the more bitter and I still see everything as if the sun was shining right behind it. It’s hard, but as all these fine people had said to me, and now us to you - you will better than new!!!

Kimberly Eisenhut Oh Melinda, to have the love of a husband/wife... I'd give anything to have that relationship right now! Only thing I ever wanted really, besides my children. My ex unfortunately had severe anger/rage issues as well as becoming an alcoholic in our last 5-10 years of marriage, he says all because of work. Without going into details, I will just say, I tried everything to help him, try to get him to understand how wonderful a life we had and get help, (begged him to get help) but it just was not going to happen. I was forced to choose my children and leave so they would not be affected any longer and start over. It is hard when you marry someone you thought you knew and loved, build a life/home for 20 years and lose it all. I still have hope I may find the person for me, because I have so much love to give and am better in life being with someone than alone. I am grateful for my life and family, but I really would love to have that someone next to me every day that loves me unconditionally and to share every day with.
