Dear all, hi :). New to the forum. Heart murmur discovered during a routine physical early November, after which a Doppler was completed. At 57 I discover I have a calcified bicuspid valve. Been sporty and fit all my life, so this has been a shock to digest. Will be admitted to hospital Jan 14th, and operated for a valve replacement Jan 16th. Looking forwards to a bit of trauma bonding, fighting this thing, and supporting others ! Thank you, Thomas

Rose Madura Welcome Thomas. I don't know if it was good or bad but I knew for most of my life that I had a "bad heart". It turned out so bad that they couldn't tell by the echo if it was bicuspid or not. Turned out it was. Mine was also damaged because I had rheumatic fever as a child. Praying for a successful surgery for you. The waiting is way worse. Hang in there. Come January, you'll be on the road to recovery.
