I had my aortic valve replaced in 2010 (tissue valve).
I'm due to have a re-op, but I'm unsure of which option to go for.
It would be great to have your opinion.
Options: 1) Mechanical - warfarin for life. Has anyone taken warfarin since they were 30? 2) Tissue valve - will need a re-op in 15 years or so... increased risk with 3rd op. 3) Ross procedure

Tiago Rocha Hi Simran hope you’re well. One question: which was the brand and type of your tissue valve? If you don’t mind to share it of course! Regarding your question I think that both valve types are solid options. Everything depends on the lifestyle that you desire. And you have a good point of start which is the 14 years that you have lived with a tissue one. How you fYou now have the late generation of tissue valves like the Inspiris Resilia that are showing promising results in terms of longevity. If you opt by the mechanical warvarine is a thing that you will have to consider and now the control can basically be done almost identical as the glicose test. For the Ross procedure I believe that some requirements must be filled and the patient condition must also allow. So a good research and a follow up with your doctor and if you find necessary another medical opinion is a good way for you to achieve a decision that leave mentally and physically confident and safe. A fact is that you have 3 solutions to consider! Regards!

For my initial surgery I had magna ease valve (pig tissue).
I think I'm leaning towards a mechanical valve as I don't think a 3rd OP is on the cards - not sure I want to put myself and my family through this again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
