Mike Roskowinski Hello Shellie welcome to the community. There are a lot of great resources here and people that can help. I had a monocuspid valve and aortic aneurysm that I needed repaired. My surgery was back in May and I went with the On-X mechanical valve. I did not want to have to worry about another surgery in some years and adding a couple pills to my daily routine did not bother me. This is the one that I would recommend since you are still young and would not have to have another surgery. I am not sure how it will all be affected with the ITP. Hope we all can help you and support you along your journey.
Shellie DuBay Thank you both. Waiting to hear from a backup blood specialist as mine is out of the country.

tim miller Hello Shellie, I’m 54 and am 5 weeks out with the On-X valve. I was originally going to do the Edwards tissue valve but as we were huddling in the OR I asked my surgeon, Dr, Roselli which valve will give me the best chance of not having this done for some time and his answer was the On-X, so I signed the form for it and that was that. I’ve been on Eliquis for years so being on a blood thinner hasn’t been anything new for me, now warfarin is different and I go to an INR clinic about 2 times a week for my INR check, it’s not that bad they do it by a finger stick compared to normal stick in the arm to draw it.
Hope this helps

Erik Jensen Hi Shellie. I don't have ITP but like you I had a bicuspid aortic valve and aortic stenosis. My surgery was on July 31 and I also went with the On-X valve. I'm 55 and didn't want to think about another procedure, let alone open-heart, down the road. The On-X is the most state-of-the-art mechanical valve out there. Best of luck deciding what's right for you. Will be thinking of you and praying for you on Sept 11!
