About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a bicuspid valve and aortic stenosis and am now 47. I also have psoriatic arthritis and ITP, along with early stage 0 BC in 2017, so what symptoms I did show this past 6 months I attributed to one of those. Went in for yearly cardiology appt 2 1/2 weeks ago and they called me at 530pm (Friday) and said after holding on for 30 years longer than they ever thought, it was time for replacement as it had moved to critical. Met the surgeon a week and a half ago and he set me up for Sept 11, so no time for many nerves, but they’re still there. Still trying to decide valve choice and I am not a candidate for TAVR. His choice would be mechanical because of know age, but need to talk to my ITP doc as I have low platelets due to that. Very worried about the loudness as well. Looking forward to reading your stories.
