Had a great Zoom visit with Dr. Castro who showed me the echo images and the problem with my mitral valve. Said it could definitely be repaired either through a mini-sternotomy or right sided thoracotomy. I posted on the FB page and got a lot of great responses. Will continue to look for comparisons on short and long term recovery between the two. He suggested the next 6 months but was OK with me waiting till summer when I can more easily travel with my family. Felt very comfortable with him. Will get second opinions which were previously requested from UCSF and Cleveland Clinic. Feeling optimistic!
