Hi everyone! I'm new here. I was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm on July 6th (my birthday). Apparently, I have 2 more things wrong but I'm not really sure what they are...all I know is my doctor is replacing my aortic root and valve and fixing something else while he's in there. I have my follow up this Thursday to know if it's grown so he can see when to schedule it. I'm glad I found this site because it's refreshing to know I'm not alone. I look forward to reading your posts!

Thomas Quigley I’m in the hospital right now recovering from CABG, aortic valve replacement and aortic aneurysms repair. I was scared going in big time. But the surgery was successful from what I’m hearing from the nurses, and my vitals are good they kept me in critical care for two days and then they downgraded me to intermediate care. My first two days in intermediate were hell. I had constant diarrhea and got the dry heaves so bad I can’t even describe it. I write to you on the 13th 5 days after surgery. Today I can walk, my vitals are good. And I ate for the first time this morning. Things will get better. In fact they pulled my drainage tubes from my chest, which means I’ll be discharged this Wednesday or Thursday! Your nurses are the key to practically everything involved with your recovery. They are on you day and night. Your nurses will be great. Look, the hospital is no fun. I hate it here, but time passes quickly and you’ll be home before you know it! The things you need to have repaired or replaced are 100% fatal if not treated! So as scary as all this is, it’s necessary. Be strong be positive and be healthier and happier 10 days after your surgery because you will be!

Steven Methot You have a similar diagnosis. One thing to note is that while this is scary and obviously outlandish to you - your medical team have treated this hundreds if not thousands of times. You will be in good hands.
