Lyn got Rob home safely to Janesville. Lyn went Grocery shopping for Rob so he would be stocked up for awhile. Lyn was originally suppose to come home Christmas eve the 24th . But I got her a flight out today if all is going well she is at the airport now actually she just called. The plane is delayed 15 min but she will be arriving today Lyn will be home for Christmas.
Rob called me last night to thank me for all I did with keeping this Journal updated and keeping all of you the family and friends updated and informed.
He stated to me last night that this is the best he has felt in 17 to 18 years. He attributes it all to the replacement of the Aorta and the larger valve.
Digressing a few days I want to share with all of you how this journal came to be . On Dec 11th I woke up at 1:30 AM stressed out . My step son Rob is going thru valve replacement surgery and I am clueless on what to expect. My fears and anxiety was getting the best on me. I searched Google on line “ Heart Valve replacement surgery” . It came up with this book, The Patients guide to Heart Valve Surgery by Adam Pick. . I down loaded and read the book that night. It was an easy read The book calm my fears of the unknown it gave me a better understanding of what to expect. I shared excerpts with Rob and Lyn to try to calm there fears it helped. But they both had been thru this twice before. But years ago technology has come a long way in Seventeen years. I went to Adams web site to down load the book that’s were I discovered this great tool this Journal I signed up Robert Lile for the Journal. Thank you Adam pick for writing the book and maintaining this site.
Adam has had a few comments in the guess book during Robs journey . How cool is that the author has the time to put a good word in for Rob
Rob and Lyn wanted me to thank all that had him in there prayers and all that had written in his guest book. He also wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and the best in the New Year.
Rob will have a good Christmas at home and not in the hospital
We will keep you updated on this site on Rob’s recovery and progress
Thank you John Berger ” As Rob would call me his step Daddy”
Rob I am looking forward when you can come down to Fort Myers so we can do a little fishing
Rob Told Dr Deal today That he wants out he wants to go home. The Dr said if His blood work comes out ok tomorrow he can go home. Lyn will be driving him home to Janesville. Robs Day went well a few friends and Family drove up to see him . He seems to be feeling good. Stay tuned for the blood work results .
Rob will be going home soon maybe even before Christmas. Jodi & Bill Arrived last night from visiting Bills Parents in Elkhorn Indiana. They stayed at the Sheraton hotel , Lyn stayed with them. Lyn states she had the best night sleep yet. Rob was glad to see them all. Rob is allowed to have visitors but he tires easily.
Rob is steadily improving he had his Foley removed yesterday. For all you non medical people a little definition a Foley is a catheter. I had to get that definition from Lyn . In speaking with Rob before the operation his biggest fear going into this operation was that darn Foley. Could you imagine that The little announces in life are our biggest fears. Now That fear is removed we can get on with the healing process. Many family members came to see Rob yesterday Ray, Carol, Jodi and Bill.
Ron Zibelle Lyn's Brother Had his Surgery Friday. He Had a stint installed he did fine. My understanding he will be going home today or tomorrow Ron may you have a speedy recovery
I slept in Robs room last night and actually slept a few hours which is probably the most I have gotten. He still has nausea and pain but is getting rid of tubes and such hourly. He had at least 8 different bags of fluids and is down to a couple. Still has foley and 4 chest tubes. Oxygen is off. He has been walking in the halls and sitting up in the chair. He has some congestion, probably from being intubated so trying to loosen some of that is uncomfortable . I suspect more improvement today. He is getting a little cranky which is a good sign of improvement. Jodi and Bill are due in later today.
Dr Deal saw Rob this morning at 7AM and the Dr is more positive than last night. In speaking with Lyn a short time ago Rob is awake and talking. The Dr replaced his Valve with a valve that is larger than the existing one. So he should be getting more blood flowing to his heart.
I quote lyns post on the guess book at 12 am this morning
"Hey Rob I am so proud of you. You are really a tough guy! YOu started waking up a bit around 10 and then at 11:00 you noded yes when I told you I love you. What a guy. Keeping watch over you. LOve, Mom"
Rob woke up at 4:30m This morning and Gave Lyn and Family the thumbs up sign.Lyn states she slept for a couple of hours. They are taking the breahting tube out as I am writing this post . Robs Dad and Tiffinay stayed at the hospital last night awaiting this waking moment. A little blood clotting last night so they are monitoring it They will be taking xrays shortly
Rob Is Back to His room in ICU The DR Feels the operation Went well. He States the next 24 TO 48 Hrs are Critical for Rob so we need to keep him in our prayers. Rob most Likely will sleep for awhile. Lyn is Exhausted and emotionaly drained. She is Going to spend the night at the hospital. Probably sleep in a chair so when he wakes she will be there
Rob went on the Heart lung by pass Machine at 9:30 this morning.
Lyn received a call from Her Brother Ron today he has to go into the Hospital tomorrow
For abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. Out thoughts and Prayers are with you Ron .
The Latest Update from the operating room is that Rob Is doing well since he has been placed on By pass.
Lyn Rob’s mother arrived safely In Milwaukee this morning. Temperature in Fort Myers Florida when she left 70 temperatures when she arrived in Milwaukee was 9 degrees.
Toots her long time friend picked her up at the airport and They drove to Madison to meet up with Rob he was going in for pre op today, Getting all those test done and stick a few needles into him and get him ready for the operation tomorrow. Rob seems to be taking it in stride. Lyn seems calm on the out side but a pile of raw nerves on the inside and I suspect Rob is the same way. Not a pleasant experience going thru open heart Surgery and having a valve replaced.the surgery is scheduled for 7AM Central time t6omorrow 12/17/09. They expect the surgery to take 6-8hrs since it is his third surgery. He most likely will spend 6 to 8 days in the hospital Lyn spend better than 4 hrs visiting and being with Rob today. Lyn went home with her brother Ray and sister in law Carol tonight intends to be back to the hospital at 6 AM tomorrow
Update 12 /17/09
Lyn was at the hospital at 6AM armed with all of your prayers, Her I pod and her Brother Ray that is there to give her the support she is going to need to get thru this day. Thank you Ray for all you do. The Other support system at hospital were Rob’s Dad and step sister Tiffany all concerned family. Jodi spoke with rob last night she said his spirit was good. Lyn and Ray had Rob laughing on the way down to the operating room. They Gave him a shot of happy juice about 7:15 am Central Time the operation was put back until 8 am Central. They apparently give the waiting family a alphanumeric pager so they can get hourly updates of what is going on during the operation. What a neat idea foe instant information. as soon as I get more information I will post it. Rob is In the Surgeon and Gods hands now.
