Hi there this is Patty, 10 months after my mitral valve repair by Dr. Baker in St. Louis I’m doing well! I still experience slight numbness and pain in my rt breast. You won’t believe me but my husband learned in May that he had severe mitral regurgitation besides his A Fib. On my husband’s birthday Aug. 28 Dr. Baker performed mitral valve repair, tricuspid valve repair and the Maze procedure through a full sternectomy. He’s recovered quite well except that he still has A Fib. He walks 1/2 mile twice a day!! I just watched the live heart surgery by Dr. Allan Stewart showing the same procedure my husband had. Thank you Adam for this opportunity.

Nancy Surprenant Takahashi Hi Patty, I took have some weird numbness on my left breast. I also experience real tenderness on that side as well.
I had MV repair with Maze in April and was in Afib for almost 3 months after, I was then cardio converted and have been out of Afib since. it's not uncommon to have afib after MV repair. They will probably get him out of it, my doc said they wanted to wait a while because the heart is inflamed after surgery and wanted the inflammation to go down. Hope that helps a little.
