I just found out that I had elevated Lipoprotein a (lp(a)), a type of LDL cholesterol that indicates increased risk of heart attach and stroke. It is genetically controlled and isn't reduced by lifestyle changes. I have never heard of it before but my doctor tested for me at my... Read more.

My cousin just informed my dad that their child has an increased lpa. As you said, it seems it's something you inherit. I didn't read up about it yet but will ask my cardiologist next time I see him.

Was meant to be off to Australia today. Trip has been delayed for a second time due to problems at work. Now going on Tuesday - bumer. Still will still be there for the 5th July!
