Going in for Surgery end of the month March 31st for Mitral Valve hopefully a repair and ascending Aneurysm, They said they can wrap the Aneurysm (It's 4.7cm) I was hoping they can use a Graft as wrapping it doesn't remove it, I'm a bag of nerves lately but this website has been a Big help. I hear if the Mitral repair is done right it can last a lifetime so hoping this will be a one time , I'm 52 and very healthy otherwise so hoping that helps.

Adam Baumgartner I just had my ascending aneurysm replaced with a graft. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that wrapping is only done these days for someone at high risk for graft surgery (elderly, comorbidities, etc.) it is not preferred for healthier people because it causes atrophy of aorta and negatively affects hemodynamics.

Hello All, I just discovered this website recently and it's been a big help, I have a question as I'm about to have a repair on my Ascending Aneurysm and am curious if its done successfully are there any future complications that can come up or once it's done I can expect a return to a Normal life expectancy? I'm 52 and pretty active and healthy otherwise.
At the moment it's a 4.8 but I also need an aortic valve repair hence the reason both are being done together.
